What makes a wedding ‘alternative’?

The world alternative is often associated with subcultures like emo, grunge, and goth. And while we love our fellow emo couples over here at Alt Wedding Co., if we had to sum it up what an ‘alt wedding’ meant, we’d say it’s simply an alternative to the traditional!

Alt Wedding Co.’s whole ethos is based on the love of capturing everything naturally, having fun with our couples, and keeping everything laid back as hell.

Weddings come with a whole load of traditions and rules, and while we totally respect whatever you choose for your special day (it is YOUR special day after all), we thrive on creative and unique approaches.

Do I have to look a certain way to have an alt wedding?

Hell no! You don’t have to have coloured hair, tattoos and ride a motorbike to have yourself an alternative wedding. There isn’t a category of people we shoot for, and nobody is ‘not cool enough’.

We just love working with fun, lovely people who want to make the most of their wedding day. We love couples who are so truly “themselves”, and let that shine through in their wedding day.

How can I have an alternative wedding?

An alt wedding starts with the authentic ‘you‘. There are no rules or customs to follow, which is the best part!

Ask yourself: If you had to describe you & your partner in form of a day, or party, what would it look like?

Maybe it’d look like a festival, or showcase a meaningful heritage, or cosy log cabin vibes in the dead of winter. Take the ‘wedding rules’ book and chuck it in the (recycling) bin. An alternative wedding is whatever you want it to be.
