The goal is to have a chilled, happy, relaxed morning – that’s a given. But some of my couples in the past have told me they’ve even stressed about the morning of their wedding weeks before their actual day, worrying about getting everything done in time.
And I totally get it! With so much to think about and do, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. So where do you start with planning the perfect wedding morning?
I’ve collated my top 7 tips for all you nearlyweds to have the most chilled out, easy morning possible! And we’re starting with the most important of all:
Imagine this: 6 people in one house wake up nervous and excited… Showering, full face of makeup, complete hairdo, breakfast, getting dressed, and photos all need to be done. Even if you’re a group of the most chilled out people ever, it’s still a recipe for stress and potential lateness.
Make a rough timeline of how you want the morning to go, and send it out to whoever’s in close proximity of you getting ready. That includes your makeup artist, hair stylist, parents, and anyone else it’s relevant to – hell, send it to your next door neighbour if it helps your nerves!
It doesn’t have to be a military operation, but having some structure to your morning will seriously help things flow better, and everyone will be on the same page.

Halfway through a mouthful of toast, your flowers might arrive. While you’re having a lash stuck on, your caterer might give you a call. While your best mate is tying your bow tie, Uncle Bob might get into the whiskey cabinet…
Even if you’re an A* organiser, this won’t help you to have a chill morning. Assign any contact needs to a trusted person that’ll be there when you’re getting ready.

This one’s for those that will be getting hair and makeup done!
Something that nearlyweds mega stress about is their makeup going wrong, or not setting properly. Our top tip to sort those nerves right out is make sure you don’t go last. Get your face and hair done in the middle of the morning so that both have time to set properly.
We all know hair & skin can be a little unpredictable (especially when stressed!), so getting yours done first will leave plenty of time to fix any mishaps. You don’t want to go last & potentially be rushed if you’re short on time!
⚡ Extra tip: If you’re going for a more natural makeup look, bear in mind it will show up less in photos!

Ever watched those You’ve Been Framed videos of someone in a wedding party hitting the deck during the ceremony? That’s likely because they’ve had a super early morning, experienced stress & nerves, and are running off 1 glass of bucks fizz!
Don’t be that person, even if you do get £250 from it.
We’re not saying you have to wolf down a full English breakfast, but having something carb-based will really help settle your stomach and give you the needed energy until your wedding meal!

The night before, lay out your accessories: shoes, jewellery, chosen scent, etc. This will keep them all in one easy to remember spot that you can grab from in the morning. No rooting around in the wardrobe or boxes and bags for the hairpiece you “put in a safe place”.
This is also a huge plus for the photographer & videographer, as we get a chance to get some shots of your chosen pieces!
⚡ Extra tip: When adding the final touches to your look, pop your engagement ring on the other hand so your ring finger is bare & ready for that wedding ring!

You know it’s all about music here at Alt Wedding Co. Where would a top tips blog post be without a music tip?!
It seems obvious, but you’ll be surprised how many brides forget to put some tunes on for the morning! Listening to your favourite band, playlist, or movie soundtrack can really calm nerves, and create that fun, exciting atmosphere you want. Whether it’s your favourite Blink-182 album, or a playlist consisting of only Disney songs… Choose something that makes you happy. It’ll set you up perfectly for your day ahead.

My last time is one that’s easily forgotten… I highly recommend wearing a button-up top for your getting ready process!
This means if you’ve had your hair and/or makeup done, there’s no risk of messing either of them up when taking your top off to get changed into your wedding outfit. ✨
Another sneaky culprit is hairties on your wrist… Take those off the night before to avoid hairtie indents.

Ahhh, don’t you feel way more zen already? We love a plan, and we just know even if you implement a few of these tips into your morning, you’ll have a super chilled, easy start to the day.
